Name: Dry Timber: Anti-Judaism and Antisemitism Before 1933
Date: June 19, 2025
Time: 6:00 PM - 6:00 PM MDT
Event Description:
Speaker: Kylie McCormick, Historian

This workshop is built around Doris Bergen’s metaphor of the Holocaust as a house burning down.

"I focus on the 'dry timber' or the bigotry that is in our communities by going through the history of anti-Judaism and antisemitism before the Holocaust. This workshop is very personal to me, as I share some of my own experiences of antisemitism growing up in Wyoming while discussing the origins of things like dual loyalty, stereotypes of Jews as bankers & controlling the world, and accusations of deicide. My workshop encourages my audience to take an active role in cleaning out the 'dry timber' present in our own communities by raising our awareness of what it is, where it comes from, and the danger of allowing it to build up."
