Cody Center for the Performing Arts will be “
Taking Care of Christmas with the Grinch” in its 10th annual fundraiser to benefit Cody Holiday Helpers on December 7 at 2 pm at the Wynona Thompson Auditorium. This afternoon of dance, music and storytelling is a twist on the original Grinch story and includes not only CCPA dancers and actors but also music groups from Cody High School. Attendees are also asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift that will be given locally to those in need for Christmas.
With an original script by CCPA Theatre Director, Bethany Sandvik, this year’s production, highlights music from various “Grinch” incarnations including movies from 2000 and 2018, a staged musical version and the original television special from 1966. CCPA dancers ages 4 and up will perform a variety of styles of dance including tap, ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop. Playing the Grinch this year is senior Beau Schatz with his trusty dog Max being played by Russell Olson. Seven-year-old Adallyn Bertognole will play the role of Cindy Lou Who while Rose Whelan will portray Cindy Lou’s mother. Other students lending their acting talents to the performance are Brooklyn Stahl, Alyssa Heydenberk, Sydney Henderson, Tora Hogan and Amelia Paul.
Taking Care of Christmas with the Grinch is a fun, family-friendly event to celebrate the season.
In addition, a depository for donated toys and gifts will be in the lobby of the auditorium.
